Zinnias for Your Birthday

There's an important birthday in our house this week. Our son Brock will be celebrating on Wednesday. He usually gets to choose where he goes to eat his birthday dinner. He loves to eat in restaurants so each year for the past two decades or so, he's been allowed to choose what restaurant to go to for his birthday. This year will be the exception.

Brock is autistic and loves "tradition" (okay, routine) but he's also willing to adjust most of the time. We've explained he can't go to a restaurant this year but he can choose the menu. He's asking for ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, and OKRA. Now that last one is going to be a challenge, but we've got the rest of it covered.

Speaking of covered, Brock also loves - LOVES!!! - presents... so he's got quite a few of those to open (21, I think). It helps the pocketbook that most of the things he asks for only cost a dollar or two. It also is good that they are mostly consumable, too... so we don't accumulate a lot of ongoing clutter. Give him some fun fruits, EL Fudge cookies, Word Search Puzzle Books, etc... and he's a happy man.

Okay, I've rattled on long enough about this amazing young man who I have the privilege of calling my son. On to the card I've made.

It's not for Brock (much too girly for a guy, right?) but it is a birthday card. I'll be adding it to my stash of birthday cards. I end up using some of them to send as a BRAK member on SCS and most of the others I donate to a church in our community that has a birthday card ministry.

Wow Jeanette, I love this card. So striking. What a fun image. AND Happy Birthday to Brock. He and my brother share the same birthday. I'll have to make note of that so I can send him a card on time next year. Great job on your card. I know whomever gets it will really like it.

I hope he has a wonderful day and realizes how lucky he is to have such a patient and wonderful mom. Kudos to you, my friend. Praying, all of you have a joyful and blessed day! Stay healthy.

Happy Birthday to Brock!!
Love your Zinnia card Jeanette - beautifully coloured and I love the woodgrain panel you mounted them on - the dark colour really makes the bright flowers on the white stand out.
Stay safe

Happy Birthday Brock. He sounds like he's full of excitement for his birthday. Gosh, did you wrap all 21 presents?

This card is jaw dropping. The green really pops, and those flowers are gorgeous. Nicely done.

I love these beautiful zinnias! They remind me of the ones my grandmother always grew!
