SCS Sketch #SC999

I find that having a sketch to use can get my creative ideas flowing, so I love being part of the Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge team. There is a new sketch to work with every Wednesday. I encourage you to check them out.

Here's this week's sketch - SC999:

This is Kim's first sketch as one of the four SCS Sketch Team artists. Didn't she do a good job? I had so much fun with her sketch!

My card:

It's always acceptable to tweak the sketch a wee bit and make it your own (there are no SCS police), so that's what I did.

I hope you'll use the sketch to make a card, too.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Hi from a Crazy Bird

One of my favorite challenge groups is the Challenge Your Stash group on SCS, under the capable and organized leadership of my friend Barb. The idea is we can't shop for anything when making our monthly challenge card (which we post on the 28th of each month).

We take turns choosing the theme. This month it was Barb's turn. Since February is National Bird Feeding Month, she challenged us to create a card with a bird on it.

Remember those crazy birds that were so popular a few years ago (Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Bird Crazy)? I had to use one of them on my card.

I hope Barb and the other Challenge Your Stash gals like my card.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Catch Up Club - February 2024

In a text conversation amongst friends in the fall of 2022, we agreed that we were all falling behind in creating with items from virtual events, kits, even groups we are in. From that conversation the idea of the Catch Up Club took formation. We decided it was time to work on those cardmaking projects that were waiting for our attention.

On the last day of each month we've committed to sharing card/cards we have made from something we need to "catch up" on. I'm a couple of days early this month, as I have other commitments on my blog these next few days.

You can view my original Catch Up Club post - HERE - for more details.

For this month's Catch Up Club post, I chose to complete a card from the 2022 Virtual Stamp Joy Event.

The strips of color have the most amazing sparkle to them. That entire panel was embossed with Diamond Embossing Powder.

It should be noted that while most cards posted on my blog are my own designs (albeit sometimes inspired by others), the Catch Up Club cards are not my designs. In this series I complete cards designed by the class instructors, so while I've made the card, it is not original to me.

Please check out the blogs of my Catch Up Club friends, too...

Double Duty 2024 - Unity

In January of 2021, my stamping comrades Barb and Kelly and I debuted a new series/challenge. Double Duty was Barb's idea... and it is a GREAT idea! I've had so much fun with this series. Thanks for inviting me to play along, Barb!

This is Barb's description of the Double Duty concept...

Each month, we get to pick a stamp set from a predetermined company. Then, we will use that one stamp set and make two cards from the set.  Different images and sentiments from the same set can be used, or use the same image two different ways—Double Duty either way!  But, as an added challenge, one item must be used on both cards—same color cardstock, same ribbon, same stencil, same something.  Double Duty Again!  Post both cards on your blog on the same day—the 22nd of each month.  See-Double Duty again!  Have fun getting doubly inky each month with a different stamp company.  Let’s have fun!

Over the past year, things have changed a bit in who's participating, but not in the instructions. This year's Double Duty crafters are Barb, Carol, Darlene, and me.

This month's company is Unity.

Card #1

Card #2

The thing/s that are the same on both cards (as per the challenge specifications) are: the sentiment, the embellishments, and the color of card base.

Create It 3 Ways - February 2024

I participated in the Create It 3 Ways Instagram Hop yesterday. It is a monthly hop (on the 3rd Saturday of every month) and each month there is a new theme. The idea is to make 3 cards based on the theme, hence the name Create It 3 Ways. There needs to be some commonality between all three cards, but the participants can decide what that common thing is.

This month's theme is Birthday.

* * * * *

The common features on my three cards are pretty obvious - same candles, same sentiments, same colors, same stamp set, and same embellishments.

Oh, and the inside of each card is the same, too:

Let's Make Cards and Have Fun - February 2024

I'm a member of several card-making groups on Facebook; one of them is called Let's Make Cards and Have Fun. For the first time, I joined their card kit swap this month (I'm not sure but think they have one monthly). The instructions are to include at least 8 items in the kit and the recipient must use at least 3 of them, but can also use items that were not in the kit.

I was paired with a woman named Debbie and we exchanged kits, via USPS.

Debbie sent me an amazing bundle of goodies that included sentiments (from Poppy Stamps Say It Big and Stampin' UP! Perennial Postage), a die set (Spellbinders August Small Die of the Month), 3 different ribbons, bling, pearls, some fun dimensional butterfly stickers, 4 white card bases, and several pieces of designer paper. I was truly spoiled!

I made these four cards:

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

THANK YOU for a great kit, Debbie! In addition to the items Debbie sent, I used the following items:

Papers - Recollections White and SU Gray Granite and Night of Navy CS and Fiskars Parchment

Dies - Honey Bee Sweet Stack Rectangles, Impression Obsession Crazy Stitched Set, Kat Scrappiness Stitched Fancy Scalloped Rectangles, MFT Stitched Mod Rectangle, MFT Stitched Rectangle, and Paper Roses Stitched Circles
