The Daily Marker Coloring Challenge - Day 16

This is the sixteenth day of The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge. This always stretches me. I love participating.

This time I've made the decision to stamp/ink one of the many previously uninked stamps in my vast collection to color each day. To make this even more challenging, I'm going to use a stamp from a different company each of the 30 days.

Yes... that's 30 uninked images from 30 different companies. I. can. do. it.

I'm only coloring images this time and will make cards with these colored images at some point in the future.

I'll post these 30-Day Coloring Challenge posts to my blog in the evenings (approximately 6:00 PM) each day. I'm also adding them to the FaceBook albums for The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge. Oh, and I'll add them to Instagram and to Twitter, too.

Doggone It!

Today's card makes me think of my school days - when the kid (you know who he/she was) would ALWAYS have an excuse... "Teacher, my dog ate my homework." She didn't believe the excuse, of course. Would you?

Now, I'm going to do something quite unusual. I'm going to show you the inside of my card first so that you'll understand why this card makes me thing of good old school days.

I'm sorry!
My dog ate your birthday present!

Or rather... I should say DOGGONE IT!

This is such a fun stamp set!!!

Oh, the possibilities!

My King

The Bible Art Journaling group on SCS, led by Julie, has a monthly theme to guide a Bible Journaling entry. This month's theme is Kingdom (or King).

Here's my simple page:

I tell you the truth,
anyone who doesn't receive
the Kingdom of God
like a child will never enter it.
Luke 18:17

Wishing You Bright Sunshiny Days

The Challenge Your Stash group on SCS is hosted by Maggie this month, which meant she got to choose the theme... and we all create a card based on that theme WITHOUT buying anything to do so. We have to use what we have.

Maggie's theme was easy - surely we all had/have the appropriate things in our stash...

Celebrate the start of summer by making a card with Yellow and Sunshine.

Thanks Maggie! Your challenge gave me an excuse to ink up one of my favorite CC Designs stamps - Sunshine.

I hope Maggie and the other Challenge Your Stash gals like my card.

Independence Day Fireworks

Independence Day is mere days away; therefore we've been seeing a lot of patriotic themed cards. My card for today fits right in.

I chose to use The Project Bin's Red White and Boom! stamp set for a great bold sentiment. I paired that with a sparkly texture paste and some fireworks.

This card was a lot of fun to make.

I used the American Crafts Vicki Boutin Texture Paste in two ways (and this was my first ever experience with it). On the blue piece I used a palette knife to add the paste on top of the Echo Park Fireworks Stencil to create sparkly fireworks. In addition to that, I used the same palette knife without a stencil to add a thin coating of the texture paste past to the entire surface of two of the designer papers.

Sparkle. sparkle. sparkle.

Gallery Gazers CASE #12

As a member of the Gallery Gazers blog group, once each month I find a card in the SCS Gallery to CASE. This month I chose a card by Jennifer Sue. I was inspired by her negative space coloring and the simple, yet elegant design.

You can see Jennifer Sue's card HERE.

I didn't have a stitched rectangle die like the one she used, so adapted and used My Favorite Thing's Stitched Mod die set. That meant I had to reduce the number of layers on my card (she had four on top of the card base; I had three.

I also added three enamel dots to my card, just because I wanted to.

Thanks for the inspiration, Jennifer Sue!

Travel the World - Week 25

This is the 25th week in my Travel the World personal challenge. Each week I am randomly choosing one country (there are 195 countries in the world) and doing a little research on that country. I then select one tidbit of information about the country as inspiration for the card I make.

This week's country is...

United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is a federation made up of 7 emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ra’s al-Khaimah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain and Fujairah.

Almost everyone here is rich and there are no taxes on income.

Everything in this middle-eastern country is opulent. The world’s largest fleet of the largest airplane in the world is operated by the UAE and it was the very first airline to provide its passengers with an on-board shower.

More than 50% of the citizens of the United Arab Emirates are under the age of 25, making it one of the most youthful nations in the world.

The week starts on Sunday in United Arab Emirates; being the day that children head off to school and their parents head off to work. But don’t worry, they get two days off in a week—Friday and Saturday. Most Middle Eastern countries follow this pattern because Friday is a special day for afternoon prayers in Islam, and this pattern enables Muslims to fulfill this duty.

Dubai, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, has 1,344 completed skyscrapers – that’s very little compared with Hong Kong (6,606) and New York (6,180). The city is indeed home to the world’s tallest tower (Burj Khalifa), which peaks at 828 metres.

The Dubai Mall is the world’s largest shopping mall. Its internal area covers 5.9 million square feet.

Dubai also has the largest man-made island in the world, the Palm Islands. It consists of hotels and resorts as well.

The United Arab Emirates has a literacy rate of 93%.

Women in the United Arab Emirates account for about 70 per cent of all university graduates in the country and fill around two thirds of government jobs.

Camels are an important and fascinating part of the country’s tradition and history. From owning camel farms, partaking in camel racing and even drinking camel milk, no visit to the United Arab Emirates is complete without understanding how integral this animal is to Emirati culture and tradition.

The city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates holds the Guinness World Record for the longest driverless metro system with a total of 46.35 miles of track. The temperature in the station is also maintained at a constant 20°C!

The police forces in the United Arab Emirates have some extravagant cars to catch speedsters; these include a Lamborghini, a Ferrari and a Bentley!

There are close to 3,500 native plant species in the United Arab Emirates and the date plant is the most well-known indigenous plant.

The country grows dates, vegetables and watermelons; they also rear poultry and cattle, catch fish and produce dairy products.

The dried date fruit, from the local palm trees of the United Arab Emirates, is one of the most well-known and popular points of pride for local Emirati families. Cultivated for thousands of years, many families still own large date farms and continue to pass down the tactics of how to collect and harvest these special dates.

Every state in the United States exports to the United Arab Emirates, as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

Dubai has no address system, no zip codes, no area codes and no postal system. For a package to be sent properly, the sender would have to leave proper directions to the destination of said package.

I decided to let this United Arab Emirates fact be the inspiration for this week's card... The United Arab Emirates is the largest customer for Boeing commercial aircraft and has more than 40 airports.

My Second Subscription Box

Come Sail Away with Me

About a month ago I had a blog post featuring the cards I made from my first Pink & Main Subscription Box. You can see that blog post HERE.

I committed to three months, so today's blog post is featuring cards from my second Pink & Main Subscription Box. Like I did last month, I made three cards with this month's box.

As usual, I decorated the insides of my cards, too, but to conserve on photos in this blog post I am not sharing photos that include a peek at the insides.

Card #1

I heat embossed the seashells with the embossing powder that was included in the Subscription Box.

Card #2

Card #3

It doesn't show up in the photos much, but the piece of designer paper that I used from the paper pad that was included in the Subscription Box has a graduated blue design to it, which makes me think of waves in the water.

I enjoyed using this Subscription Box and will look forward to seeing what Pink & Main has in mind for the July Subscription Box.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

The only thing I used in addition to the items in the Subscription Box (as seen on photo) was some cardstock: Recollections Black and Kraft and Stampin' UP! Dapper Denim.

I colored with Copic Markers.

A Robot Birthday

Do you ever need a birthday card for a child? If so, I'd recommend checking out the Raisin Boat Robo Party stamp set - and good news! It's on sale!

There are so many fun images in this set; I had a difficult time choosing which one/s to use on my card for today. I ended up choosing just two, plus a sentiment, but I can assure you I will be using this stamp set again soon.

You can find Robo Party in the SumMore Fun online store - HERE.

Here is my card:

I actually stamped the balloon right on top of the robot image, making it look like just one image.
