BK - Day and Night Silhouette Stag

Fridays are special days - who doesn't love TGIF, right? But here on my blog Fridays are also special because they are the day I get to post as a design team member for Blue Knight Rubber Stamps.

This month the BKRS design team is showing ways to use one of the newest products in the BKRS store - DESIGNER PAPER!!! How fun is that?!?!?!?! You can check it out in the Blue Knight Rubber Stamps store --> Designer Paper Day and Designer Paper Night. And even more exciting... BKRS also has released two more sets of designer paper!

This paper is perfect to stamp on and can be colored, too. I've used Copic and Olo markers on it. I know some of the other design team members have used Pan Pastels on it. It really is nice paper.

SCS Sketch #SC977

I find that having a sketch to use can get my creative ideas flowing, so I love being part of the Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge team. There is a new sketch to work with every Wednesday. I encourage you to check them out.

Here's this week's sketch - SC977:

It's always acceptable to tweak the sketch a wee bit and make it your own (there are no SCS police), so that's what I did.

I hope you'll use the sketch to make a card, too.

True disclosure here - I do not know much about Mixed Media plus all of my stencils and pastes are already packed for the upcoming move, so I'm not sure my card really qualifies. Good news though! There are NO CAS challenge police.

Exciting Times!

 Big news...

Not far (we've purchased a home here in the same town)... but a move is a move. It means EVERYTHING has to be packed and moved.

Oh, and our closing day got moved up 10 days ahead of schedule so I am in a packing frenzy. LOL!

These are exciting days but you'll notice my blog will not be as busy as usual. I've given myself permission to skip several card-making series and such for a month. I will still be posting a few things but not everything I usually do

From a Kit Series (PP) - Take 25

I started a new series on my blog in July of 2021. The idea was born from the fact that I have a lot of unused card/stamping kits just waiting to have some attention. Sheesh! Seems as though I buy them and they just sit. That just shouldn't be so I'm going to commit to using a kit once a month for this "From a Kit" series.

As I mentioned in my May 2023 blog posts, the only "kits" I have left (after completing the first 21) are SEVERAL Stampin' UP! Paper Pumpkin kits. I also mentioned that I've discovered I'm not really very fond of the card designs found in the Paper Pumpkin kits... so I decided IF I'm going to use those Paper Pumpkin kits that I've invested in, I'll need to veer away from the designs as they appear in the kits. So here we go, with my first of many Paper Pumpkin kits.

This month I made four cards using the Paper Pumpkin Hey There Try It Kit. I've had this kit a very V-E-R-Y long time; so long that I didn't remember when/how I got it so I did a little research. What I discovered is this was the first kit everyone received.

It is a much different kit than the Paper Pumpkin kits made today. It only had supplies for four cards. The contents included the usual card bases, envelopes, and stamps as well as a Stampin' Spot ink pad. Other than that the only things in the kit was a sheet of adhesive elements and four buttons.

I used all the supplies and made these four cards...

Truthfully, I was not a fan of this kit. I'm glad it's now off of my shelf (I am donating the stamps and my finished cards to our local thrift store).

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

In addition to the Paper Pumpkin kit I used the following items...

Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black and Taylored Expressions Granny Smith and Mushroom

Gerda Steiner - Happy Fall

Were you here on the 9th when I announced that I'd been invited to be a guest designer for Gerda Steiner Designs this month? I'm still just amazed that I've had this opportunity - and so grateful, too!!!

They sent me the adorable Nuts About You stamp set to use. I loved coloring the sweet little squirrel in three different colors, because after all, there are different colors of squirrels. My previous squirrels were tan and brown. Today's is...

Gray Squirrel:

And of course there had to be some fall leaves to go with those acorns the little guy is gathering.

Creative Crew 2023 - September

This is my 2nd blog post of today. If you're here to see my Blue Knight Rubber Stamps post, you can find it quickly by going --> HERE.

It's posting day for the Creative Crew. What exactly is the Creative Crew? We are a group of 7 card-making friends from various US locations who have a fun monthly creative adventure with a secretive twist.

Normally, one of the group's members hosts each month. As host, she chooses a theme and puts together theme appropriate kits, which she mails to the other members, keeping one for herself, too. The group members all receive the same kit, but there is to be no conversation about the kit or the cards we're making. Then, on the 15th of the month, we all reveal our cards.

This month is a bit different. Instead of a host, I mailed one item to each member with a specific instruction. The item was a die - Your Next Stamp's Wonky Scallop Edge, but the instructions were "use it in some way other than as a die".

I'll be interested to see how the others used it. I used it to make a stencil and then did some ink blending on my card.

Here's my card:

I had a leftover image from an earlier Creative Crew kit (Carol's), so used it on my card, too.
