Keeping One Plus Twelve Alive in '25 - August

The 3rd of each month is a special day here on my blog - it's the day that Kelly (the founder of this series), Barb, and I share our One Plus Twelve cards. The idea is to use the same ONE stamp (not a set) each month to create a card. Sentiments can be used, too, if we choose.

We started this series in 2019, so this is our 7th year.

My ONE stamp this year is the bloom from the Gina K Modern Floral stamp set

I stamped the image and the sentiments from the same set using Taylored Expressions Fruit Punch Ink.

You can see Barb's and Kelly's cards on Instagram as well as their blogs...

Encore Performance - June 2025

My friend Darlene developed the idea for this series and invited some of us to join her in the challenge. It's called Encore for a reason. We all have those stamps (or other card-making items) that we've only used once even though our intentions were to use them again - and again. After all, we invest a lot of money in our supplies for them only to be used once. So, this series is our opportunity to dust them off and use them a second time.

Challenge Description

Go and grab a stamp set, dies, stencil, etc - your choice, that you have used once before and have always wanted to revisit it and use it again.  However, despite your best intentions, you have yet to use it!

Now's your chance! Go dig it out and have fun with it once again.  Create anything you like, a card, gift card holder, decorate a gift bag, make a refrigerator magnet...whatever lights up your creative juices!

We'll be posting these Encore cards on or around the 25th of each month.

This month I revisited the Stamp Market Botanical Beauties stamp/die set. This stamp/die set first appeared on a card on my blog on December 19, 2023 - you can see it HERE. I watercolored it with Karin Brushmarker Pro markers at that time. I always intended to use it again - coloring it with alcohol markers BUT I never got around to doing that. Until now.

Whether it's my week to create the sketch (the first Wednesday of each month) or I'm creating a sample card based on the sketch someone else created, I find that having a sketch to use can get my creative ideas flowing.

There is a new sketch to work with every Wednesday. I encourage you to check them out.

Double Duty 2025 - Gina K

In January of 2021, my stamping comrades Barb and Kelly and I debuted a new series/challenge. Double Duty was Barb's idea... and it is a GREAT idea! I've had so much fun with this series. Thanks for inviting me to play along, Barb!

This is Barb's description of the Double Duty concept...

Each month, we get to pick a stamp set from a predetermined company. Then, we will use that one stamp set and make two cards from the set.  Different images and sentiments from the same set can be used, or use the same image two different ways—Double Duty either way!  But, as an added challenge, one item must be used on both cards—same color cardstock, same ribbon, same stencil, same something.  Double Duty Again!  Post both cards on your blog on the same day—the 22nd of each month.  See-Double Duty again!  Have fun getting doubly inky each month with a different stamp company.  Let’s have fun!

Things have changed a bit in who's participating over the years, but not in the instructions. This year's Double Duty crafters are Barb, Carol, Darlene, Terry and me.

This month's company is Gina K.

Card #1

Card #2

The thing/s that are the same on both cards (as per the challenge specifications) are: the colors, the papers, the rectangle dies, and the embellishments.

Let's check out the other Double Duty cards, too...

Secret Stamp Challenge

Surprises come from people when you least expect them and they come in various wrappings. Most recently a surprise came with a Miami Florida post mark, so it had to be from my friend Kelly. And it was wrapped in the cutest Snoopy wrapping paper. What fun!

And it was extra fun because she also sent a package to our friend Barb.

What was in the package? A Hanna Stamps motorcycle stamp set. This sure takes me back to my pre-teen and teen years. In case you didn't know, I learned to drive a motorcycle when I was 10 years old it was my favorite form of transportation for many years.

I think Kelly said she found these fun stamp sets at a thrift store, but I can't remember for sure - so let's head over to Kelly's blog and see if we can get the full story.

We'll want to go to Barb's blog, too, to see her card.

Farewell Technique Junkies

Today is a difficult day. I've often heard the saying All good things must come to an end but I'm not sure I think that's true. Perhaps it is. I know I definitely don't like it. For instance, I don't like it when good stamp companies close their doors. Technique Junkies is closing their doors on March 15.

I am happy for Pat, she's earned retirement and I hope it is everything she wants it to be and even more. But with her retirement we stampers have one less place to purchase awesome stamps. That makes me sad.

Since this is my last blog post as a member of the Technique Junkies design team I struggled with which stamp to use. There are so many wonderful ones in my stash. I ended up choosing one that I had even before I was asked to join the design team - Like a Teacup.

Unfortunately, this stamp was still available when I made my card - and by the time I put together my blog post a day later, the stamp was sold out. UGH! That's why you need to head to Technique Junkies right now and buy anything you want. At 75% off! Hurry!

It has been a joy to serve on the Technique Junkies design team. I hope at some point during my tenure I've nudged you to shop - and at least inspired you to take a look at their products.

Thank you, Pat, for allowing me this great honor!

3M Bouquet

Kelly, Barb, and I have been creating together as the Three Musketeers every month since November 2014. We all three create a card using the same image. I always enjoy seeing how different our cards are, even though we use the same image. This is one of my favorite posts of the month.

We take turns choosing what stamp will be used. This month it was Barb's turn. She chose the gorgeous flowers from Taylored Expression's Sketchbook Bouquet stamp set.

Thank you, Barb!

Be sure to check out Barb's and Kelly's cards, too...

Freebies from the Unity Brown Bag

I have been known to place an order with Unity Stamps a time or two many times and I always enjoy looking at what's inside the little brown bag they include in each order. It might be a spare stamp, a tag, some ephemera, etc. When I opened the brown bag in my most recent purchase, it included several things including a very pretty pinecone piece and a sheet of fabulous Christmas sentiments. I decided I need to not make a card.
