Patriotic Duel

It's the 15th... that means it is time to DUEL!

The Divas and the Dazzlers are at it again. (But just so you know, we are taking a wee break this summer, so this is the last DUEL until September).

The hostesses this month are Terry (for the Dazzlers - YAY, Terry!) and Barb (for the Divas - okay, we'll say a little YAY for Barb, too!) Their theme is........................

Show Your Patriotism

THANK YOU, Terry and Barb, for a great theme and for the kits, too!

Terry's wonderful kit included the following items:

Image: Unity "Celebrate"
DP: My Minds Eye "Pieced Pinwheels", Colorbok "Stars and Stripes"
Solid Cardstock: Core'dinations "Deep Navy", "Burgandy" and "Snowcap"
Embellishments:
Craftwork Cards Candi "Prince Charming", "Icing Sugar" and "Regal Ruby"
Rhinestones: Red and Clear - The Paper Studio
Blue Twine: Studio 112
Buttons: Miscellaneous from JoAnn's

Here's the card I made:

We were also given the challenge to tell what we think of when we see the flag. For me, it can be a very emotional moment when I see the flag. For instance, I remember the first football game I went to after "the" 9-11... they walked out with the flag and I lost it. I cried a bucket full of tears that night.

And then there's the time when on our family vacation that we were able to help raise the HUGE American flag at Fort McHenry, the site where The Star Spangled Banner began. WOW! Another tear-jerker, for sure.

Even seeing the flag in a parade immediately makes me think of the freedoms we enjoy, but sometimes take for granted.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
Please be sure to stop by the other Dueling Darling blogs (both the Dazzlers and the Divas). You can find links to their blogs in my left sidebar.

The only thing I used besides the things that were in the kit Terry sent was a piece of Recollections 110# White Cardstock for my card base.

Each month one of the Musketeers sends images to the others and we all three create with the same image. This month, Barb sent Kelly and I the cutest sexiest cow I think I've ever seen. She's wearing a bikini and sipping a big glass of lemonade or orange juice or ???

No Longer Unidentified

It's Fluffie!

Okay, for those of you who are a bit confused, let me explain. I am in a swap group that has a new hostess every other month. The hostess sends the image and we all make cards with the same image. It's always great fun to see how we all come up with different ideas, color schemes, layouts, etc... even though we start with the same image.

We are known as the Unidentified Image swap group because we don't talk about the image or what we're doing with it... and we can't show pictures of our finished cards until the day they are due to the current hostess. WHICH just happens to be TODAY!

Our wonderful hostess sent us a Stampendous image this round - "Fluffies the Cat". THANK YOU, Jody! It sure is an adorable image!

Here is my card:

I went with a very pastel color scheme, which if you follow my blog much, you know really isn't my style normally. But Fluffies just seemed to be a pastel kind of cat. ;)

I'm really kind of disappointed that the photography doesn't really show the detail of the flower.

The flower started out white! I sprayed it with three different mists - Peach, Papaya, and Stardust. I really thought it was shimmery and pretty!

Here's the inside of my card:

I Found a Hug

I found a Hug...
just when I needed one!

I hope you've already noticed there is a new challenge today at {PIN}Spirational Challenges... because my post here on my blog is a bit tardy.

I've actually been very sick and am still not up to speed, hence the fact that you've seen little of me here in blogland of late. (Allergies can hit me hard sometimes.)

So, without further delay, here are the details about the {PIN}Spirational Challenge...
