Hot Mess - February 2025

It's the 13th of February; I'm a day late gettinng messy. (insert deer-in-the-headlight look) As you likely recall from previous 12ths, I am not one who likes messes. Not one bit. BUT a challenge is only a challenge if it stretches you, and I'm up for the Hot Mess Success Challenge.

Barb, Carol, Darlene, Terry, and I create cards for the Hot Mess Success challenge each month and share them on the 12th.

It's Anything Goes - as long as there is something messy involved. This month I did some ink smooshing and also used the Bubble Wrap Technique.

Be sure to check out the other Hot Mess gals blogs, too, to see their cards (you'll be WOW'd!)...

SCS Sketch #SC1049

I have been part of the Sketch team on Splitcoaststampers for a few years now. Whether it's my week to create the sketch (the first Wednesday of each month) or I'm creating a sample card based on the sketch someone else created, I find that having a sketch to use can get my creative ideas flowing.

There is a new sketch to work with every Wednesday. I encourage you to check them out.

Lisa created this week's sketch - #SC1049:

3M Bouquet

Kelly, Barb, and I have been creating together as the Three Musketeers every month since November 2014. We all three create a card using the same image. I always enjoy seeing how different our cards are, even though we use the same image. This is one of my favorite posts of the month.

We take turns choosing what stamp will be used. This month it was Barb's turn. She chose the gorgeous flowers from Taylored Expression's Sketchbook Bouquet stamp set.

Thank you, Barb!

Be sure to check out Barb's and Kelly's cards, too...

From a Kit Series (PP) - February 2025

I started a new series on my blog in July of 2021. The idea was born from the fact that I have a lot of unused card/stamping kits just waiting to have some attention. Sheesh! Seems as though I buy them and they just sit. That just shouldn't be so I'm going to commit to using a kit once a month for this "From a Kit" series.

As I mentioned in my May 2023 blog posts, the only "kits" I have left (after completing the first 21) are SEVERAL Stampin' UP! Paper Pumpkin kits. I also mentioned that I've discovered I'm not really very fond of the card designs found in the Paper Pumpkin kits... so I decided IF I'm going to use those Paper Pumpkin kits that I've invested in, I'll need to veer away from the designs as they appear in the kits.

This month I made 3 cards using the March 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit - Beyond the Horizon.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

In addition to the Paper Pumpkin kit I used the following items...

CS - SU Misty Moonlight and Peekaboo Peach

Dies - MFT Stitched Rectangles, MFT Stitched Tag-Corner Squares, and Pink & Main Extra Large Sentiment Strips

Inks - Memento Paris Dusk, Pink Fresh Detail Black, and Taylored Expressions Granny Smith, Pineapple, and Sweet Corn

Unused No More - February 2025

It's the 6th of the month - time for the Unused No More Challenge. Not sure what that is? Knowing we have stamps and other products we've not used, Barb created the idea for this challenge and invited others to join her in the fun.

The challenge each month is to pick a stamp set, stencil, die, hot foil or press plate (or maybe something else I have not thought of) that you have not used yet—still new in the package or your storage choice.

Make a card or another project, giftable, ATC, etc. with the new item and now it is used!

This challenge is exactly what I need! I'm not going to name how many unused stamps I have (not to mention dies, embossing folders, stencils, etc.) but I will tell you this - over 35% of the stamp sets I own are currently unused (at least by me - some of them I have purchased second-hand). That's ridiculous! I need an intervention and Barb has created it for me. It's called Unused No More.

I made this month's card using the Taylored Expressions Meadow Cinquefoil Stamp/Die set.

There are several of us in this group, but these are the ones that have blogs if you'd like to check out their Unused No More cards/projects:

CAS832 Three

Each Monday there is a new CAS Challenge on SCS. It's always fun to see what others create using the CAS theme.

I am the host this week. I chose the theme...

Three

I had a good reason for this theme. You see, my husband Brent and I got married on February 4th so today is our anniversary. What does that have to do with three? When Brent proposed to me, I asked him for three good reasons why I should say yes. Don't tell him, but I likely would have said yes no matter what reasons he gave. That being said, he did give three very good reasons and I happily said yes.

Here's my card:

I have three hearts on my card, meeting the CAS theme specifications.

I hope you'll check out the challenge - HERE - and play along, too.

Keeping One Plus Twelve Alive in '25 - February

The 3rd of each month is a special day here on my blog - it's the day that Kelly (the founder of this series), Barb, and I share our One Plus Twelve cards. The idea is to use the same ONE stamp (not a set) each month to create a card. Sentiments can be used, too, if we choose.

We started this series in 2019, so this is our 7th year.

My ONE stamp this year is the bloom from the Gina K Modern Floral stamp set

I stamped the bloom randomly and repeatedly on a piece of white CS to create a designer paper.

You can see Barb's and Kelly's cards on Instagram as well as their blogs...

Technique Junkies - Contemporary Floral Vine

This is a busy week on my blog so I'm posting my Technique Junkies' post today rather than tomorrow.

One of my cousins passed away a week ago. Technically she was a second cousin, but she and her two sisters and my sister and I were all about the same age - stair steps - so she seemed more like a first cousin. I have fond memories of the five of us as youngsters. One of our favorite things to do was to gather on the floor of her parents' living room to play a competitive game of spoons.

As an adult Patty followed her career dreams to be a college professor while married to her sweetheart of a guy. They raised three great kids. Through it all, Patty was one of the happiest individuals I've ever known. You'd never see her without a smile on her face and a sweet word on her lips.

Patty had a sudden heart attack while in the hospital for a fairly routine procedure and left us much too quickly. She will be greatly missed because when one is much loved, one's passing is much grieved.

My thoughts are especially with her husband, their three children, her two sisters, and the many MANY more who knew and loved Patty.

Technique Junkies Contemporary Floral Vine:

The sentiment is from the Technique Junkies Difficult Time stamp set. The background was created using the A Colorful Life Three Diamonds stencil which is also available in the Technique Junkies store.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

In addition to the Technique Junkies stamps listed in this blog post, I also used the following items when making these cards.

Inks: Taylored Expressions Macaron and Oreo

Papers: Accent Opaque 120# White and SU Highland Heather CS

Dies: Simon Says Sentiment Labels and Unity Scallops and Rectangles

Embellishments: Amazon Diamond Dots
