Classic Guy's Birthday

I discovered a fun challenge blog early last month called Retro Rubber Challenge. The have a new challenge every other week with a variety of themes, but the one constant is that participants MUST use stamps that they've had for a year or longer. I have many MANY stamps that I've had a long time, so I thought I'd keep an eye on the challenges and participate when possible.

The current challenge Cruisin':

I have just happen to have a vehicle or two in my stamp inventory so this is perfect.

I used my Unity Slowly Turning Classic stamp set, which I've owned for 2-3 years. I love this stamp set because it reminds me of the antique pickup that was originally my great-grandfather's mode of transportation. Many years later, my parents took ownership of the pickup, rusted and not in working condition. My dad completely restored it. I think it's gorgeous and based on the number of trophies my dad has that it has won in car shows, other people think it's gorgeous, too!

I colored my stamped pickup a lighter color because I thought it would look better on a card, but I do love the beautiful blue of my dad's truck (which is a replica of the original color of the truck).

They don't show up well in the picture, but I put a Cloud 9 Rain Dot on each of the headlights to give them a tinted glassy look.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Stamp Set: Unity Slowly Turning Classic stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic Markers

Papers: Cougar 110# White and SU Coastal Cabana CS and DP from my scrap file

Dies: MFT Stitched Rectangles

Embellishments: Cloud 9 Rain Drops

Jeanette I love your card and also the picture you included of your parents and their truck. I am sure your dad restored it to it's perfect original condition. Great job!

A wonderful card Jeanette, and what a great back story to your choice - how wonderful to be able to share a photo of your parents with the 'original' truck!
Stay safe

What a great card and memory. I believe my grandfather had a similar classic truck, but it is long gone. Great job with the coloring and layering. Thanks for playing along with us at Retro Rubber I am glad you found us!
