A New Kind of Skinny

On the third Wednesday of each month, Kelly (the brain child of this group), Barb and I enjoy doing an extreme challenge... one that's a little more challenging than other challenges.

We call it...

Ready? Set? Go!

We rotate who chooses the Ready? Set? Go! theme. This month it was my turn... and let me tell you, it was definitely challenging - challenging to make (short and squatty would have been easier) and challenging to photograph.

My Challenge

Here it is, the beginning of a new year. I’m not sure if any of us make New Year’s Resolutions (I know I don’t, although I do set annual goals) but research tells us that the most common New Year’s Resolution people make is to lose weight. For this, our first Ready Set Go theme of the New Year, I want our cards to lose some weight. No, we are not going to weigh our cards… but we are going to make them skinny. Instead of making a typical A2 card or even a square card, we will be making cards that are the perfect size to fit in a business-size envelope. Tall and Skinny! (Oh, how I wish that were my body type.) Oh, I guess you realize, to be tall and skinny, your card will also need to be vertical and not horizontal. We don’t want to be short and fat. ;)

A second part to this month’s theme is to use the newest paper-crafting item you have while making your card. Maybe it’s a stamp you recently purchased, a tool/gadget you received for Christmas, or some other treasure you’ve acquired. Whatever is the newest. (And remember, newest could be months ago… but hey! It’s not for me! I get new toys way too often.)

Here’s to the Newness of a 2019!

Ready? Set? Go!

Here is my card:

The "new" item I used in making my card is a Christmas gift I requested and received from my sweet husband.

Brother Label Maker

I used it to create the Just dropping you a line sentiment.

Obviously, I wanted the label maker to do some organizing/labeling of stamps and other supplies (see photo below)... but hey, it works on cards, too.

Be sure to check out Barb's blog and Kelly's blog to see what they made for Ready? Set? Go! this month.

As always...
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Oh welcome January - starting off the year making us tall and skinny, like your super cute card! I remember this stamp from before and you chose a perfect one to add to a tall card! Great idea to add the label the card - my son takes my and labels everything (for fun, hello, save the tape!) but it's funny to see the dog walk down the hall with a "Made In China" label on his collar, LOL!

I loved your challenge and I love your card even more. What a perfect stamp to use for this challenge and to add your great labels is so fun! Thanks for the smiles and laughs today!

Great idea Jeanette. I like to use both the business size envelopes and the standard ones sometimes for cards. Designs for these sizes are few and far between. Thanks for the ideas!

Oh Jeanette this is gorgeous - love the background papers that 'fit' your wee worm and sentiment perfectly. What a great interpretation of your challenge!
