Warm Hugs on this Spring Day

There's a new challenge at International Art & Soul...

Theme:
Card Type You Haven't Tried Before

I have to say... it was really difficult for me to wrap my arms around this challenge. I don't normally do any fancy or unique folds... but I have tried many of them. I don't go back to use them again and again because truthfully, I think they are difficult to photograph. Plus I often times think the recipient will have no idea how to open the card or what to do with it with some of the more unique card designs.

But a challenge is a challenge... so I went in search of a card style I'd not done before. In case you're wondering, my search took place in the Tutorials section on SCS.

I decided to go with a Crimped Envelope Pocket Card.

The base/pocket of my card is actually a letter size envelope - it was blue and covered in snowflakes so I didn't alter it. I had to change the measurements a wee bit from what the tutorial shows. Truthfully, this probably wasn't my best option of envelopes to use. An A2 envelope would have been more sturdy which would have worked better at the top.

It was definitely a different type of card than I've ever made before. Now it's your turn... what kind of card will you try for the International Art & Soul Challenge?

Jeanette - your comments about different styles of cards are exactly what I think. I much prefer a 'normal' card although I have to say that your card above is brilliant. Hazel x
