To Color or Not To Color (Part 1)

I tend to feel more comfortable coloring "cutsie" types of images - like the adorable JessicaLynnOriginal owl, Brentwood! ;) But sometimes I see  adorable stamps/images that look so realistic (like the JesssicaLynnOriginal Dachshund Weiner Dog stamp) and then I feel inadequate in my coloring abilities.

Am I the only one?

So today I decided to try making a card with an "uncolored" dachshund image.

If you like this stamp set you can find it HERE.

Truthfully, I'm not sure I like leaving the image/s uncolored. I think I might try coloring the images (on this same card) next week and we'll do a comparison and see what we think.... so stay tuned to my blog.)

Three Musketeers

Don't you just love that title?

I hinted at this post last week in my Peek at My Week... and told you you'd have to check back on my blog on November 9th to find out more about it.

Well, this isn't the 9th. DUH! I am still not sure what I did wrong, but I messed up. I created my card and my blog post was scheduled for 6:00 AM on November 9th, but for some reason it didn't post. So... I'm late. :(

I want to first and foremost apologize to my other two Musketeers, who were on time and WOW'd us with their creativity!

Can you tell who the Three Musketeers are? That's Barb in the middle and Kelly on the right, and of course, that's me on the left.

I want to thank Kelly's super-talented daughter who "fixed" this Three Musketeers Banner for us!!!

Now, you know "who" we are, but the real question remains... Who/what are the Three Musketeers?

I have dreamed of this group for quite some time... and decided the time was right, so I asked Barb and Kelly to join me in this fun adventure. We are a "mystery-image" sort of trio. And each month one of us is the one who chooses what image we will use. She then mails the image to the other two and we get to see what each of us do with the same image.

This month was my month - and I chose an image from one of my most favorite stamp companies - Sugar Pea Designs. Oh my goodness! If you aren't familiar with Sugar Pea designs, you need to go HERE and check them out.

The images/sentiment I used are from the Sugar Pea Designs set called Bountiful Blessings.

You also need to go to Barb's blog and Kelly's blog to see what they did with the image I sent them. You are going to be VERY IMPRESSED!

Here's my card:

I am very THANKFUL for the other two Musketeers! Please don't forget to check out their 3 Musketeer posts on their blogs...

Autumn Camping

When's the best time to go camping? Some people think in the summer - when the weather is warm and the sun shines brightly. Others think in the spring - when the harsh winter has passed and the world is turning green once again. Yet  others (these may be rare) think in the winter - when they can snuggle in thermal sleeping bags and even try their hand at ice fishing.

Not so.... today's card shows that Brentwood prefers to camp in the autumn - when the leaves are changing color and the temperatures are not too hot and not too cold.

Ponies in Distress

I had a challenge to meet! Using distressing. Truthfully, I'm just not very good at distressing - whether it's roughed edges, ink smudges, or whatever. I never seem to think it looks right when I try to do it.

Today's card is no exception.

See what I mean? You can hardly see the ink distressing on this card. I smudged ink on all four sides of the brown designer paper, but you can hardly tell. UGH!

But it is what it is.... and it IS for a challlenge.

Popcorn Anyone?

A looooooong time ago, I saw some online pictures of cute little stand-up triangular cards. I was fascinated with the design. I put it in the back of my mind thinking someday...

I probably even pinned them. (Did you know I'm addicted to Pinterest?)

So, today IS the "someday"...

Today is a PERFECT "someday" because this card fits the theme for the Sweet Stampin' Challenge...

November 1 - 7

Theme: Shaped Cards

Sponsor: Crafts U Love
£10 Voucher

I used a JessicaLynnOriginal image for my card - Brentwood A Good Movie & Theater Popcorn. And of course I just HAD to use some popcorn designer paper for my card, too.

The directions for making this said to hold the card together with Velcro, but I decided to use a large paper clip as part of the design instead. I actually wanted to put some theatre tickets in the clip, but I didn't have any. A theatre gift card would be nice, too. But I didn't have that either. So I put a Chipotle gift card in it to show you how versatile that paper clip is...

I googled to find instructions to make this card - I think it's called a teepee card. Click here to go to Lyndsey's blog and find the simple instructions. THANK YOU, Lyndsey!!!

This is the third side of the card:

Yes, it does fold flat for mailing purposes. Simply remove the paper clip.

I hope you'll participate in this week's Sweet Stampin' Shaped Card Challenge!
