Creative Crew 2023 - February

It's posting day for the Creative Crew. What exactly is the Creative Crew? We are a group of 7 card-making friends from various US locations who have a fun monthly creative adventure with a secretive twist.

One of the group's members hosts each month. As host, she chooses a theme and puts together theme appropriate kits, which she mails to the other members, keeping one for herself, too. The group members all receive the same kit, but there is to be no conversation about the kit or the cards we're making. Then, on the 15th of the month, we all reveal our cards.

It's always fun to see how each person uses the kit.

This month it was Darlene's turn to host. She chose the theme...

What's Your Birthstone?

This is what was in Darlene's kit:

Papers and Images from the "Prism" kit by Club Scrap

Ribbons from JoAnn's Fabrics

Adhesive Gems from Paper Studio

Sequins and Washi Tape from Club Scrap

Thank you, Darlene!

Group members were given the opportunity to use their own birthstone or someone else's. I used my own.

October's birthstone is the Opal. Opals are a lovely stone with a mixture of colors. I went with blue tones with a bit of lavender on the tips.

October also has another birthstone - the Tourmaline, which is a pink stone. The pink rhinestones in Darlene's kit were a perfect reflection of this stone.

Here's my card:

It's difficult to see the lavender tones, but they are there.

Be sure to check out all of the Creative Crew cards:

STUNNING!! I love the opalescent colors and that you also incorporated pink tourmaline too. Both gems are very pretty and tourmaline also has a wide range of colors. Lovely layout!

I really like how you colored the image. The fading to the next color looks great. My mom was an October / opal birthstone too!
