Coffee With Friends

Many years ago I made a friend on Splitcoaststampers. I can't tell you exactly what thread it was, but we had connected in an online setting. I'm not even sure I knew she lived in Kansas (which happens to be my birth state) until a year or two later when I happened to mention that my daughter had graduated from college in Mississippi. and accepted a teaching position in Kansas. Pansy sent me a private message and asked where she was going to be teaching - knowing there was a good likelihood that it was in her town as they hired several brand new teachers each year. Sure enough! My daughter moved to Pansy's town and began her teaching career.

It wasn't without an occasional hiccup, Brittney had to make new friends, in a new state, in her first teaching job. I was thankful that Pansy and other educators took her under their wing!

The first time I got to go visit my daughter in Kansas, I was excited to not only see her but to also get the opportunity to meet my online friend! It was a thrill, for sure!

Pansy has since retired (and now invests a lot of time in her grandchildren) and Brittney moved back to Mississippi to work for a few years (interestingly, Pansy's daughter was hired to fill the vacancy Brittney left). Eight years ago, Brittney moved to Alaska where she teaches Special Education in an Eskimo Village off of the road system.

Pansy isn't on SCS much any more but I do connect with her on FB some... and when we have reason to chat privately, the conversation always turns to the adventures of "our girl".

Why am I telling all of this? Well... just a few days ago there was a oversized envelope in my mailbox from Pansy. I quickly ripped into it to see what she was sending me.

Don't you just love surprises??? I know I do.

Inside were two stamps - from Technique Junkies. Both were coffee-themed and Pansy's note said she thought I needed them.

THANK YOU, Pansy!!! I really am so happy to have them!

I used one of the stamps to make this card...

I must not be a very good friend because I don't even know if Pansy is a coffee-drinker or not... but I do know this! I sure wish I could sit down with her in real life and sip whatever beverage we chose and just chat and chat and chat. That would be such fun!!!

Fall Falliday will be coming to SCS within the next few weeks. It is one of Pansy's favorite SCS events, so if you are there, keep your eye out for her and tell her Jeanette says "Hi." (Her SCS name is c-mouse).

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
