Hot Mess - Take 31

It's the 12th of February, time to get messy. (insert deer-in-the-headlight look) As you likely recall from previous 12ths, I am not one who likes messes. Not one bit. BUT a challenge is only a challenge if it stretches you, and I'm up for the Hot Mess Success Challenge.

Barb, Carol, Darlene, Kelly, and I create cards for the Hot Mess Success challenge each month and share them on the 12th.

It's Anything Goes - as long as there is something messy involved.

I struggle with these cards most months... either coming up with an idea (that's usually a BIG challenge for me), or stressing over the mess (while at the same time liking that I'm being stretched out of my comfort zone), or (like this month) struggling to get the plan to look like I envision it.

I persevered though... and actually do like the way this one turned out, although my photography does not do it justice.

The "Messy" feature of my card is the floral background. I stamped the SU Floral background stamp (from 2005) with Versamark ink and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. No mess yet. BUT... I then added Silver Metallic Rub On Gilding Polish all over the piece. After wiping it off - buffing it to a shine - I added some Copper Metallic Gilding Polish in random areas. Now, if you've ever used the Gilding Polish, you know your fingers get really pretty messy in the process, too. That's okay - that's what this series is all about.

I really wish you could see how pretty the technique is.

Be sure to check out the other Hot Mess gals blogs, too, to see their cards (you'll be WOW'd!)...

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
