Let's Get Messy - Take 22

It's the 12th of May, time to get messy. (insert deer-in-the-headlight look) As you likely recall from previous 12ths, I am not one who likes messes. Not one bit. BUT a challenge is only a challenge if it stretches you, and I'm up for the Hot Mess Success Challenge.

Barb, Carol, Darlene, Kelly, Terry and I create cards for the Hot Mess Success challenge each month and share them on the 12th.

It's Anything Goes - as long as there is something messy involved.

This month I tried something I've tried before with minimal success... but I tweaked it a bit. I love the look some people get from inking the embossing folder before using it, but when I tried it, it didn't work very well. Then I heard that Ranger Distress Inks work great with that technique, so I gave it a try. Much better.

I used a brayer to add Ranger Distress Kitsch Flamingo Ink to my Altenew Beautiful Bergenia embossing folder before embossing a plain piece of white CS. The flowers on my embossed piece remained white, but I thought they needed some color, so I used blending brushes to add Ranger Distress Inks - Mustard Seed for the flowers and Twisted Citron for the leaves.

I used a sentiment from the Technique Tuesday Lots of Sentiments stamp/die set for a simple addition to my card.

Be sure to check out the other Hot Mess gals blogs, too, to see their cards (you'll be WOW'd!)...

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Jeanette I saw this on FB and was blown away....it might be out of your comfort zone but you nailed it. And what a great emboss folder to do the techniques too.

Oh Jeanette, how LOVELY!! The colors are so bright and cheerful. I love the brayer to add color to embossing folders, but your tip on which ink works well will really help my success! I love the deep yellows on the flowers and how it grabs my eye against the pink and soft greens. Such a beautiful card!
