The Good Shepherd

The Bible Art Journaling group on SCS has a monthly theme. This month the theme is The Names of Christ.

WOW! There is so much to choose from... but one of my favorites is the imagery of Him as our Good Shepherd.

11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.12 A hired hand will run when he sees a wolf coming. He will abandon the sheep because they don’t belong to him and he isn’t their shepherd. And so the wolf attacks them and scatters the flock. 13 The hired hand runs away because he’s working only for the money and doesn’t really care about the sheep.
14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me, 15 just as my Father knows me and I know the Father. So I sacrifice my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep, too, that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them also. They will listen to my voice, and there will be one flock with one shepherd.

John 10:11-16 New Living Translation (NLT)

Christ: The Good Shepherd

I do occasionally cover up the Scripture in my Bible, but I try not. Because the stamp I wanted to use was too large to fit in the margin of my journaling Bible, I used a piece of Parchment Paper and made a tip-in for this BAJ page. It is possible to read the scripture through the parchment (even though the picture doesn't look like it is), but it's also possible to lift the tip-in page and reveal the bare page.

To get a better view of the artwork, I took this picture with a piece of white paper behind the Parchment Paper, just for photography purposes...

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Love this Jeanette - the colouring on the parchment is so subtle, and it illustrates the scripture beautifully
