Freedom

Joyce is the June hostess of the Crafters of Faith group on SCS which means she came up with this month's challenge. She asked us to focus on freedom in our creations and chose Psalm 118:5 as her focal verse: I will walk around in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.

I first made a card, but then decided it didn't quite communicate freedom like I saw in the verse, so I decided to do a Bible Journaling entry instead.

The translation Joyce used is the New International Version (NIV). My Bible Journaling Bible is the New Living Translation (NLT), so it says it a wee bit differently.

In my distress I prayed to the Lord,
and the Lord answered me and set me free.
Psalm 118:5 (NLT)

Are you like me? Are you your own worst critic? When I was working on this page and put down that long strip of washi tape (which is a gorgeous washi tape, BTW) I was frustrated to see that the bottom end of it fans to the left instead of being straight.

I was not one bit happy! But... the thing I've discovered with washi tape and the thin pages of a Bible, sometimes trying to remove it doesn't go well. So instead of removing it and trying to straighten it up, I decided to use it as a personal lesson - a reminder - of how very much God loves me... and each and every one of you, too.

I am anything but perfect. In fact, I am often the polar opposite... doing everything wrong, saying things I shouldn't, not being the kind of person I should be. BUT... don't you jus love that word - BUT... but God loves me anyway. He has set me FREE from my sin by His willingness to die on the cross for MY sins. So, following His example (loving the imperfect) I am going to say this page is just fine the way it is, slanted/crooked washi tape and all.

Remember... In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Beautiful journalling Jeanette, and an sweet object lesson from the twisted washi - thank you for sharing that. If you had not mentioned the twist I would not have noticed.
Blessings
