Patriotic Duel

It's the 15th... that means it is time to DUEL!

The Divas and the Dazzlers are at it again. (But just so you know, we are taking a wee break this summer, so this is the last DUEL until September).

The hostesses this month are Terry (for the Dazzlers - YAY, Terry!) and Barb (for the Divas - okay, we'll say a little YAY for Barb, too!) Their theme is........................

Show Your Patriotism

THANK YOU, Terry and Barb, for a great theme and for the kits, too!

Terry's wonderful kit included the following items:

Image: Unity "Celebrate"
DP: My Minds Eye "Pieced Pinwheels", Colorbok "Stars and Stripes"
Solid Cardstock: Core'dinations "Deep Navy", "Burgandy" and "Snowcap"
Embellishments:
Craftwork Cards Candi "Prince Charming", "Icing Sugar" and "Regal Ruby"
Rhinestones: Red and Clear - The Paper Studio
Blue Twine: Studio 112
Buttons: Miscellaneous from JoAnn's

Here's the card I made:

Here's the inside:

We were also given the challenge to tell what we think of when we see the flag. For me, it can be a very emotional moment when I see the flag. For instance, I remember the first football game I went to after "the" 9-11... they walked out with the flag and I lost it. I cried a bucket full of tears that night.

And then there's the time when on our family vacation that we were able to help raise the HUGE American flag at Fort McHenry, the site where The Star Spangled Banner began. WOW! Another tear-jerker, for sure.

Even seeing the flag in a parade immediately makes me think of the freedoms we enjoy, but sometimes take for granted.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
Please be sure to stop by the other Dueling Darling blogs (both the Dazzlers and the Divas). You can find links to their blogs in my left sidebar.

The only thing I used besides the things that were in the kit Terry sent was a piece of Recollections 110# White Cardstock for my card base.
