Double the Pleasure

I have a couple of challenges to tell you about today - the ABC Challenges Layer Challenge and the MelonHeadz Friends Back to School Challenge.

August 19 - 25

Theme: Lots of Layers

Participants should create cards with at least 5 layers on them.

As you can see from my card, you can have multiple layers and still  make a very simple card.

Here' the inside of my card:

Fall Kick Off

It's the 15th, so it's time for a Duel - Dueling Darling style.

The hostesses - LJ (Divas) and Terry (Dazzlers) came up with a great theme...

Fall Kick Off

I'm not sure (yet!) what LJ sent for  her kit, but Terry sent the Dazzlers a cute House Mouse image (Smarty Pants), awesome school-themed designer papers (Recollections Back to School), and lots of fun embellishments (Target Baker's Twine, Craftworks Candi Dots, and Michael's Ribbon). THANK YOU Terry!

And THANK YOU, LJ and TERRY for being TERRIFIC hostesses this month!

Here's the card I made:

This is the inside:

We are also supposed to share a favorite fall memory. For me, I think it would have to be our family tradition of going to a U-Pick Apple Orchard and riding the tractor/wagon to the trees and picking apples and munching an apple on our ride back to the barn. This is a tradition that my husband and I started when our children were quite young. We look forward to it every fall.

I'm so glad you stopped  by my blog today!

Now let's go see what the other Dueling Darlings created...

most of all... BELIEVE

If you visit my blog regularly, you know I'm in an on-going swap on SCS called the Unidentified Image swap. The hostess sends images to the group and we all create with the same image. It's such fun to see how the different swappers all use the same image in such different ways.

April is our hostess this month and she sent us a Unity image. THANK YOU, April. This was a wonderful image to work with!

Shoes = Stinky Feet

What do you think of when you think of shoes?

For me, the portion of a poem I heard some time ago comes to mind...

Stinky feet, stinky toes;
They smell so bad I hold my nose.

I'm sorry, I don't know the rest of the poem, nor who wrote it. This part is stuck in my mind, though.

Of course, not all feet stink! LOL! Surely not the feet on this adorable image...

Bugaboo - Basketball Girl

I made a card with this adorable image for this week's {PIN}Spirational Challenge.

I Learned a New Acronym

Acronyms are interesting - brief and to the point. LOL... BTW... CAS... that sort of thing. I tell you, sometimes it's difficult to keep up with what they all mean. So, I wasn't the least bit surprised when I discovered an acronym I'd never heard before - SIP. Am I the only one who had missed this???

According to Patty, the owner of ABC Challenges, SIP is a well known acronym used in paper crafting - focusing on keeping things simple by using only stamps, ink, and paper.

August 12 - 18

Theme: SIP - Stamps, Ink, Paper

That's not as easy as you'd think. LOL!

I started with a great masculine image - and though I could have colored it with my Copics (ink!), I chose not to do so. My oh my! The card looked bare. I had scored three lines on the left side and stamped that pine cone image on the base on the right side, but it just looked way too plain. I wanted to add rhinestones,  or ribbon, or buttons, or something, but SIP wouldn't allow it. So I distressed the card with black ink instead.

This is by far NOT my best style - I NEED embellishments in my life! That being said, I'm looking forward to seeing what you will create for this SIP challenge. I want to learn from you! So please play along in the ABC Challenges SIP Challenge this week!

A Child of God

I love my Copics, but I am excited to tell you about today's card, which is colored beautifully - and no Copics.

MelonHeadz Illustrating images are available in black and white (line drawing) format or colored format. I have been on the MelonHeadz Design Team for some time now, but not until this week was I able to use the colored version of images because the color on our printer was too wonky. Come to find out, the colored ink that was in the cartridges was apparently faulty. We put a new color cartridge in and now it works fine.

Let me remind you, MelonHeadz Friends is having a FLOWER challenge right now. I hope you'll participate!

Sweet and Simple

It's Tuesday and I have two challenges to tell you about.

Isn't that just the sweetest little girl image ever? I love the expression on her face - so pensive. The image is a Squigglefly digital image called Tender Loving Care.

I made this card for the {PIN}Spirational Challenge this week.

August 6 - 12

This is the picture to {Pin}Spire us:

The two sponsors this week are

Pin  and Tack

Both sponsors are offering a wonderful prize package to a lucky participant and Squigglefly also donated images for the design team's use for this challenge. THANK YOU to our sponsors!
