Yes! I said NAIL POLISH! (tee hee!!!)
Here's what I bought on last week's Treasure Hunt (yard sales finds):
2 bottles of Nail Polish - 10 cents each
hmmmmm... wonder if I can make something with that?
Yes, I can!
It's difficult to see in the picture, but the cherries on top of the two cupcakes are actually nail polish... so shiny!
The designer paper directly behind the image is created with the two shades of nailpolish brushed lightly in a streaking motion onto yellow cardstock. I really wish I'd taken a picture of "my" designer paper before adhering it to the card, so you could get the whole effect. It turned out quite nice, but the cute CUTE image covers most of it up.
Here's a closer view that shows "my" designer paper a little better:
In case you're wondering, the adorable image is a Bugaboo digital image! Precious!!! And Bugaboo is having a 50% off sale on ALL of their adorable images right now... so hurry on over and do some serious shopping. (Tell them Jeanette sent you.) The last day to purchase at 50% off is July 4.
Image: Bugaboo WO Cupcake Tower
Ink: Copic markers and Copic Spica pen
Cardstock: Stampin' UP! Marigold Morning and Riding Hood Red
Designer Paper: The Paper Studio Sugar and Spice Collection
Special Treatment: painting with Nail Polish
Embellishment: organdy ribbon

Wow! Thats very creative. Love the card! You are amazing.
I've used nail polish before for things like the cherry, but I never would have thought to just paint it in stripes on paper! So clever and looks great too!
YOU ARE BRILLIANT!! What a great idea. I love the homemade dp. Clever, clever, clever.
Um ...... do you know how much O.P.I usually costs, lol - not .10c! That right there is a WOAH! :)
But the bestest woah is your darling card :) Supah cute and definitely creative!

Oh my goodness! I love me some OPI polish. It is all that I use! Now I can use it on my cards, as it is 'forest certified'. The best part of OPI are the names of the polish. Your card is too cute. I love those Bugaboo images!
You are beyond clever Jeanette!!! This is absolutely fabulous!!! :D MWAH!
Others have already said what came to my mind:
1. WOW! How creative & clever to use the polish to create your own DP background!
