CAS794 Splatters

Each Monday there is a new CAS Challenge on SCS. It's always fun to see what others create using the CAS theme.

This week's theme is...

Splatters

Here's my card:

I tend to stress over the randomness of splatters - after all, there's little control of where those splatters land. I always fear I'll ruin a carefully colored image so I shy away from them. AND in the past when I have used splatters, I've chosen white splatters. This time I stepped out of my comfort zone and used Dr. Martin's Black Star Matte India Ink. EEK!

What do you think?

I hope you'll check out the challenge - HERE - and play along, too.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Hot Mess - May 2024

It's the 12th of May, time to get messy. (insert deer-in-the-headlight look) As you likely recall from previous 12ths, I am not one who likes messes. Not one bit. BUT a challenge is only a challenge if it stretches you, and I'm up for the Hot Mess Success Challenge.

Barb, Carol, Darlene, Terry, and I create cards for the Hot Mess Success challenge each month and share them on the 12th.

It's Anything Goes - as long as there is something messy involved.

This month my finger tip got messy as I used it to rub luster and metallic substances onto the embossed floral piece.

Be sure to check out the other Hot Mess gals blogs, too, to see their cards (you'll be WOW'd!)...

From a Kit Series (PP) - May 2024

I started a new series on my blog in July of 2021. The idea was born from the fact that I have a lot of unused card/stamping kits just waiting to have some attention. Sheesh! Seems as though I buy them and they just sit. That just shouldn't be so I'm going to commit to using a kit once a month for this "From a Kit" series.

As I mentioned in my May 2023 blog posts, the only "kits" I have left (after completing the first 21) are SEVERAL Stampin' UP! Paper Pumpkin kits. I also mentioned that I've discovered I'm not really very fond of the card designs found in the Paper Pumpkin kits... so I decided IF I'm going to use those Paper Pumpkin kits that I've invested in, I'll need to veer away from the designs as they appear in the kits.

This month I made 3 cards using the August 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit - Giftable Greetings.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

In addition to the Paper Pumpkin kit I used the following items...

CS - SU Calypso Coral

Dies - Stamplorations Crazy Running Stitch Rectangle, Unity Deckle & Stitches, and Unity Scallops & Rectangles

Ink - Hero Arts Intense Black

Embellishments: Amazon Nail Art Rhinestones

ONcE More in '24 - May

The 3rd of each month is a special day here on my blog - it's the day that Kelly (the founder of this series), Barb, and I share our One Plus Twelve cards. The idea is to use the same ONE stamp (not a set) each month to create a card. Sentiments can be used, too, if we choose.

I'm actually a day late this month, as yesterday was a DT day.

My ONE stamp this year is a beautiful floral (a very large one) from the Altenew Pristine Peonies stamp set.

I hope you'll keep an eye out on the 3rd of each month to see how I do with this ONE stamp this year. You'll also be able to see Barb's and Kelly's cards on Instagram as well as their blogs...

So Many Gifts

I loved attending Barb's No Foolin' Retreat last month. This was my second year and I'm already looking forward to next year. After all, I do need to add some more pretties to my tree.

Barb has name pieces created for each of us each year. The cute little chick in the egg shaped piece is from 2023 and the flower is this year's. I display them on a twinkle tree that's in my Play Room. In the early morning hours (before my guys wake up) these trees are the only light on in the house. I love it!

These cute little pieces are made by Marci of ImCraftSnee. Of course, the name pretties are not the only thing we receive at the retreat.

by. no. means.

We also receive sweet table gifts (placed on our tables before most of us get up each day) and we also get a HUGE bag filled with lots of stamps and other products from several companies. Some even gave us discount codes in addition to the SWAG item. WOW!!! What fun to go through the bag and see what we've received from these amazing companies. Here are the companies that contributed this year...
