This is a sad day, but it's also cause for celebration. Sabrina, the owner of SumMore Fun is closing the business and today is its last day. That means if you want any of the remaining items in the store, you need to get them before midnight today.
It's also a day of celebration, though, because today is Sabrina's birthday. Beth and I (the SMF design team) have both created a birthday card for Sabrina - you can see them on the SumMore Fun blog. I hope you'll also leave a comment on the SumMore Fun blog, wishing Sabrina a Happy Birthday.
I decided to use one of my favorite stamps from the SumMore Fun store, even though it is now sold out and unavailable. I have used this stamp again and again, as well as the Giddy Up stamp set (I love that horse - and that set is still available). They are my most-used stamps/sets from the store.
Please allow me to tell a story about my most treasured SumMore Fun stamp set though. It's no longer available, alas. It's one of the red rubber sets - a baseball set. I'm not really a sports fan - but it means the most to me of all of my SumMore Fun stamps. Why? Because it's how I "met" Sabrina.
I was on the International Art & Soul design team at the time and one of our themes was a baseball theme. I didn't have a single baseball-themed stamp/set so I used a picture of my son Brock, on the plate, poised to swing at the ball. Now you must know, when I post my cards on Facebook, they sometimes get a fair amount of attention, but when I post anything about Brock, well, let's just say, he has a lot of fans.
It wasn't long until I had a comment from Sabrina saying she'd like to gift me a baseball stamp set, if I would use it. Never one to turn down free stamps (I'm sorry, that sounds bad, doesn't it?), I said yes, please. And Thank You!
I did use that set - I've used it quite a few times. I love the vintage look of it and though I'm not a sports fan, I love sending notes/cards to those who work with the Special Needs Softball group here in my town (where Brock's picture originated).
Quite some time later - maybe a year or two - Sabrina sent me a message and asked if I'd be interested on serving on her design team. I excitedly told her YES!!! and I've been on her team since then.
Sabrina is generous, kind, and so sweet! She balances a business, a home (she has young children), is a nursing student, and so much more. I also am glad to call her a friend.
So... Sabrina, my friend, THANK YOU for letting me serve on your design team and...
Happy Birthday!
