Joy Report and 50 Truths

I've had a good week... I hope you have, too. We were out-of-town for a state-wide meeting for three days and I was able to see a lot of people I know. Fun times! I didn't make as many cards this week as I've been making the past couple of weeks, but I did manage to make 8 which I guess isn't too bad.

The card on my blog today was inspired by chapter 45 of the little book 50 Truths Worth Knowing.

The World Is Filled with Wonder

Barry's eleven-year-old daughter approached him and said, "Guess what?" Being the fun dad he is he said, "Well, let's see... are you getting married?" which caused his daughter to erupt into giggles. Of course not.

She had lost another tooth. And she was curious as to what the Tooth Fairy would bring her. The last tooth had earned her a watch, a true splurge for Barry's income. But he wasn't complaining. Giving that gift to his precious daughter (as the Tooth Fairy, of course) reminded him of a very special - and sacrificial - gift his own parents had given him as a youngster.

Besides, his eleven-year-old daughter knew the Tooth Fairy, or Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny either. These are just a game played, a special time between father and daughter. The Tooth Fairy's hidden gift was special to her because of the game. It comes with a sense of wonder - "the same wonderment we all keep and cling to," says Barry.

Barry surmises that we need to believe... in the fun of childhood games. Believe in the wonderment of life.
