......................

Now for the Calendar Girls.

Deb is our hostess this month and look at the great challenge she gave us:

Since we are the CALENDAR Girls I was thinking we should make cards that reflect the months of the year or days of the week.

I found these sayings about a few of the months:

Slow as Molasses in January
January Brings a New Year
Beware the Ides of March (William Shakespeare "Julius Caesar")
March, In Like a Lion Out Like a Lamb
April Showers Bring May Flowers
June is Bustin' Out All Over (Oscar Hammerstein)
July Fireflies Bring August Skies
September Leaves Gives Chance for October Scares

And here are some yearly days of the week.:

Fat Tuesday
Black Friday
Good Friday
Palm Sunday

So the challenge is to make a card that reflects your interpretation of one of the above sayings about the months or one of the four listed days. (Maybe you know another saying about months of the year you like. You can use that saying.)

In your blog post let us know what saying or day your card reflects.

THANK YOU for a GREAT challenge, Deb!!!

My Very First ATC

I had never made an ATC, truthfully, don't really get the concept of why we have them. However, one of the design teams I am on decided to trade ATC's with one another, so I had to step outside of my comfort zone. Each month will feature a "theme" for the ATC and we will swap names and make an ATC with that theme in mind.. In May (our first month) I made an ATC for Josephine.

Yikes! I sure hope Josephine likes it... and remembers that she was my "first".

Two Tips for You

I have two cards for you again today - the One Stitch at a Time Challenge card and the monthly Dueling Darling card..... Oh! This is going to be fun!

http://onestitchatatimechallenge.blogspot.com/

"Button It"

Sponsor: Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet

Here's my card:

You know how sometimes you want to try something new/different, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't? Well, this was one of those times. I tried something different... and it did NOT work.

I used the Stitchy image called "Lake Winter" which is a gorgeous detailed image. I wanted to sponge a variety of colors of ink over the entire image to give it a muted look. I did that and truthfully, it does look somewhat better than the photo shows, but it wasn't the  best thing to do with the image. I'm just sayin'!

Tip #1: Do NOT sponge ink all over the Lake Winter image. You probably won't get the kind of look you're hoping for.

Here's the inside of my card:

I hope you'll participate in the OSAAT Button It Challenge!

Products Used

Ink: Inkadinkado Ink Spots

Now for the Dueling Darling card....

Darlene and Tami are the hostesses this month and they chose this theme:

Darlene sent the Dazzlers a GREAT kit to work with:

Embellishments: Paper Studio Gemstong Ribbon, Ribbon Boutique Silk Plaid Ribbon, K & Company Dimensional Flower, Recollections Blue Flowers, CrafWorkCards Candi Dots, Creative Impressions Dragonfly Brad, Spare Parts Glitter Lady Bug, and Eyelet Outlet Garden Tool Brad

THANK YOU, Darlene! (The only thing that I added was the card base - Stampin' UP! Cool Caribbean Cardstock and Recollections Black Cardstock for layering.)

Now, for the interesting part of the Dueling Darling Challenge...

Tip #2: Darlene instructed us to share our "favorite gardening tip" in our blog posts. My FAVORITE gardening tip is this: let my husband do the gardening! (I do NOT like playing in dirt, or soil either.).

Be sure to check out the other Dueling Darling blogs...

Enjoying the Summer Weather

You might have been noticing a lot of beachy, sunny, outdoorsy types of cards lately and there's a good reason for that. We all seem to like Summertime!

The Unidentifed Image Card Swap group was hosted by Kadie this round and she sent us a cute little summery image to use for our cards - Pink Cat Studio Lily.

Thank you, Kadie!
